Can We Expect The Blues to Be Sold By The Start Of The Season?

ALHAMBRA,IL-- The Blues have been for sale since March 16th When Checketts announced that he was selling the team.

Since that time a local group headed by Tom Stillman has attempted to purchase the Blues but their offer was far from the asking price of Checkett's. Recently a new name came into the mix, Matthew Hulsizer, a Chicago businessman that recently walked away from purchasing the Phoenix Coyotes.

If either Stillman or Hulsizer come to a monetary agreement with Checketts, the NHL approval process will go smoothly because both Stillman and Hulsizer have been approved once before.

With this being said Checketts is still looking for the right amount of money and with the deadline for bids being last Monday, the question is did he find the right bid?  No one knows for certain but what is known is that eventually Checketts has to sell so its only a matter of time before a bid comes close enough to Checkett's asking price and he is willing to sell.

Jeremy Rutherford of the STL Post Dispatch had this to say about the sale "A lot of things will have to fall in place, but a deal before Oct. 8 is possible."

With that being said, I believe it is a long shot but I believe Checketts will have identified a buyer by the start of the season, if not sold the team.
