ALHAMBRA, IL-- Would Pietrangelo and Colaiacovo be a good pair?

When asked who would be paired up with Pietrangelo Davis Payne simply responded with

"That's a legitimate question" and no doubt a question that has floating around for some time. Payne goes on to talk about this particular pairing and his view on it from what he saw last season

"He finished the year playing with Carlo and I thought they had some effective minutes".

The truth is, no one knows for certain who he will be paired up with, not even the coaches, because he is going to play in a lot of different situations and with each one of those situations comes a new defensive partner. Davis Payne even admitted that the question of whether or not Pietrangelo could be moved to the left side was a possibility. Which, if done would allow him to play with a right handed defenseman.

"Does that involve (playing with) Roman Polak?" Payne asked. "Does that involve a guy like Shattenkirk in certain situations?"

Fans will have to wait until camp to find out who will be paired with Pietrangelo.

"Petro had a heck of a year, and he's had a heck of a summer. He's got every intention to continue to push forward. Who that is with, I don't think we're going to be able to lock that in and say it's this guy and it's this guy the whole way. I think we'll be looking at that through camp."

*David Perron

Rumors started circulating among fans when they heard David Perron was in town, but according to Jeremy Rutherford it was nothing more than a chance for Perron to see team medical staff and Coaches

"We asked him to come in and see our training staff, nothing more than to see our strength and conditioning coach and see where his body makeup is at after not doing anything for a while," GM Doug Armstrong said. "There were no tests done or anything like that. It was just after we said that he won't be participating in (training camp). We made some decisions on what he'll do over the next month or so, which is all subject to change based on his ability to feel better and get to a point where he feels comfortable increasing his activities. I don't want to say it was a 'social' visit ... it was just we hadn't seen him in a while."
