McDonald added to list of Injured Blues

Andy McDonald by jim.cassady

ALHAMBRA, IL-- The Blues announced Monday what most fans had already guessed, Andy McDonald is out indefinitely with a concussion and is headed to the IR.

McDonald was injured Thursday night in Dallas when he was hit several times by both a Star and Blues' player.  He returned to play the 3rd period, but the next morning reported some irregularities.  McDonald, who has a history with concussions will now be placed on the injured reserve for the second time in 10 months.

McDonald is obviously a key part of the Blues' offense, but the Blues have plenty of other players that can step up (Grachev, Porter, etc.) due to the depth added this year in preparation for an event of this sort.

The Blues have to be getting used to this by now.

Last season the Blues were plagued by injuries and most of them were concussions.  This year Carlo Colaiacovo (still hasn't been cleared to play) went down on opening night and was diagnosed with a concussion and David Perron still hasn't returned from a concussion that he experienced last year (getting close) so the Blues have to be asking when will it end?

So will this year be like last season?

Preferably not. Last year the Blues didn't have the depth to cope with an injury like this so hopefully this year with the pick-ups they had in the offseason, the Blues can still play efficiently when dealing with injuries.

Notice: Stay tuned on Wednesday for an article in which I will analyze the Blues road trip and undoubtedly talk about the special teams.
