The Blues are hoping for better results this time around, but it wont be easy...
The Notes play the Flyers, Canucks, Flames, Oilers, and Wild on the road during this long stretch that includes only one game at Scottrade Center (vs. Vancouver). If the Blues can do well on the road and turn their play around, then they will be rewarded, because they then come to St. Louis for a stretch of 5 home games.
Playing on the road has proven to be a challenge for the Blues already in this young season, but I'm really looking forward to seeing them embrace this challenge and grab some points before returning home.
Keys for success:
- Special teams- Ive talked about this a lot so I wont bore you with this topic, but it is definitely important that the Blues turn their special team's play around on this road trip
- Play full 60 minutes of hockey- On the last road trip, I was surprised by how much the Blues controlled play (minus game against the Kings), but they only did it for 20-30 minutes a game, and then took their foot off the pedal. To be successful against teams like Vancouver, and Philadelphia, the Blues will have to play hard the entire game.
- Goaltending- No matter who is in net, they will have to have a strong game, every game. Consistency is key for the Blues goaltenders, and if they can perform well (along with players in front of them) it will make life a lot easier for the whole team and of course the fans.
