ALHAMBRA, IL-- After a huge win today against the Calgary Flames, the Blues hit the road for 4 straight against the likes of the Stars, Sharks, Ducks, and Kings who are all tough opponents. Beating these teams requires consistency, motivation, and of course hard work which is why leadership is so important. Guys like Jason Arnott, Jamie Langenbrunner, and Scott Nichol have all been through trials and know what it takes to overcome them. The Blues have been less than consistent the past few years, and without consistency it is hard to predict where you are going to be at the end of the season.
The first challenge of the year for the Blues came with the loss on Saturday in the season opener. Many fans were wondering how the Blues would respond to the disappointing loss, and they came through with flying colors. The offense was better, the defense improved, and Halak did what he had too to secure the win.
Is this due to new leadership?
Honestly it is too early to tell, but one thing is for certain, the Blues looked like a different team compared to the one that played in Saturday's loss.
So, where am I going with all of this?

The Blues were unable to consistently win games last year, and it led to them not making the playoffs. After winning or losing a game, you have to be able to control your emotions and move on to prepare for the next battle. It seemed like last year the Blues were unable to string together wins, and were unable to forget about a loss and move on. After losing to Nashville in the home opener, the Blues responded exactly how they need to the entire season, put the loss behind them, fix the problem(s), and win the next game.
Having someone that has been there before helps coach other players in the right direction and prepares them for the next game, and with 4 tough road games coming up, the newly acquired veterans will be instrumental in keeping this team headed in the right direction.
