The Blues announced today that defenseman Kris Russell will be sidelined for a minimum of 3 weeks
The Blues announced the results of the Kris Russell MRI today and the results weren't exactly what Blues fans were hoping for. Russell will be sidelined for 3 weeks with an injured right groin.
Russell will be re-evaluated in 3 weeks time and stepping in to take his place is Ian Cole.
Cole has waited patiently for another opportunity to play, and has been sidelined since Colaiacovo made his return. Hitchcock has said recently that he would like to see Cole back in the lineup, but obviously this isn't what he had envisioned.
Before sitting out the last few weeks, Cole had tallied 1 goal, 3 assists and was +7 in 11 GP.
Cole will need to make the most of this opportunity and even then, he still will likely be sent back to Peoria when Huskins and Russell are both back.
Hitchcock was very grateful to have Cole in the NHL because he is experienced and familiar with the system.
Friday's Hopefuls
Oshie, Sobotka, and Langenbrunner are hoping to be back in the lineup in Friday's game against Nashville. Langenbrunner is almost certainly in, Sobotka's and Oshie's return depend on how they feel Friday morning.
The return of these 3 important players will be much needed as the Blues play back to back games on Friday and Saturday.
