Brian Elliott will represent the Blues at the All Star game

Brian Elliott has been chosen to be a part of this year's All Star game in Ottawa

The complete All Star roster was released today, but only one player was chosen from St. Louis.

The Ontario native, Brian Elliott has been a huge part of the Blues rise in the standings this season, and he has been rewarded for his efforts.

What a surprise Elliott has been for the Blues this year as he goes from barely making the team out of camp, to being named to the 2012 All Star roster.

It's pretty hard to fathom and it is a pretty unique situation as it is very rare that backup goaltenders are seen at the All Star game, but Elliott's numbers prove that he's earned his spot.

Elliott is 15-5-0 with a 1.62 GAA and a .940 sv %....not bad for a backup eh??

Though he hasn't been flawless of late, he has been above average as he finds himself facing off against elite teams most of the nights he steps on the ice and he deserves this honor as he has truly been a remarkable story this season.

As I said before, Elliott will not be accompanied by any of his teammates (more than likely due to lack of roster space) even though it was thought maybe David Backes would be selected for his second straight All Star game.

Brian Elliott truly is an underdog story and no one deserves it more as he has overcome the odds and has been rewarded with the high honor that comes with the annual All Star game.
